The Treeing Tennessee Brindle is distinguished from other tracking dogs by its brindle coat, great scenting ability and versatility. Descended from the old Brindle Cur dog, it hails from the pine forests of the Ozark Mountains, the deep hollows of the Appalachians and everywhere in between. The promoter of the breed was the Reverend Earl Phillips, who gathered information about them in the 1960s. In 1967, the Tennessee brindle Breeders Association was formed to preserve brindle dogs, with their intelligent, courageous and companionable temperament.The main characteristic of the TTB is its brindle coat. It is smaller than the Plott, with a shorter ear and a different build. It is acclaimed for its good voice and sings when on the road. Despite the emphasis on the brindle coat in the name, when it comes to this breed, performance is paramount.
