Details

Siamese cats are social, affectionate and intelligent animals that make loving and loyal pets. Described as “dog-like”, these kittens fit in well with most families. The Siamese cat is a bright, intelligent feline with an attractive appearance and charming personality that can’t help but attract admirers wherever it goes. These cats are known to be rather “doggy”, and they love attention – human affection is something this breed can’t get enough of.
Siamese kittens typically cost between $250 and $1,000 and are quite a popular breed. In 2018, the Siamese was the 13th most registered cat breed with the Cat Fanciers Association. With their affectionate (and chatty!) personalities, it’s easy to see why they are so loved. Siamese cats have a slender, elongated build, with slender but muscular bodies. Their long, slender limbs and tails, along with a high-contrast colourpoint pattern, make them instantly recognisable. Their colourpoint coats give the illusion of mystery, with a darkened masquerade-type coat near the face, ears, legs and tail. Due to its genetics, this breed will always have piercing blue eyes (which can sometimes be a little squinty) that add to its striking, elegant appearance. And because of their short, light coat that doesn’t shed much, Siamese cats can be a good choice for allergy sufferers.
Although you may imagine a Siamese to be cream coloured with dark coloured points, there are actually four colour combinations these kittens can have: seal point (the typical fawn or cream body with dark seal point), chocolate point (ivory body with dark brown point), blue point (light silver body with dark greyish blue point) and lilac point (light cream body with pinkish grey point). They are all so beautiful that you might be tempted to adopt one of each. And while they sometimes need space to do their own thing, for a Siamese “doing their own thing” usually means being a few feet away, rather than right on top of you.
Siamese cats are also known to be talkative and to meow loudly to their owners. Although, as each cat is an individual, not all are talkative. “Siamese can be very talkative, but they’re not the majority,” says Kranz. “The ones that are will talk your ear off, [and they make up] maybe 25% of [the breed]. The rest are moderately talkative or don’t talk at all.”
A Siamese may dub a member of the household “his person” and bond more closely with him than with anyone else. Case in point: The relationship Patti Randall (played by Hayley Mills) has with D.C., the Siamese, in the 1965 Disney film That Darn Cat! But as long as everyone is very affectionate, this breed will cuddle with any member of the family. “
