Pyredoodle

Pyredoodle

INTRODUCTION

The Pyredoodle is a mixed breed dog, a cross between the Great Pyrenean and Standard Poodle dog breeds. Calm, fearless and loyal, these puppies have inherited some of the best traits from their parents. Despite their unfortunate status as a designer breed, you can find these mixed-breed dogs in shelters and breed-specific rescues, so remember to adopt. These adorable puppies make excellent pets for single people and families alike. They can even adapt to flat living, but are best suited to a home with a yard due to their large size. They are generally quiet, but will bark to alert their humans of any danger and are known to be very protective of the children in their home. If you are looking for a gentle giant with a big heart that will protect your home and family, the Pyredoodle may be the right dog for you! AniMall24 recommends a large, roomy crate to give your big Pyredoodle a place to rest and relax. You should also buy a dog brush and massager for your long-haired puppy.

HIGHLIGHTS

Pyredoodles are mixed breed dogs. The main colours of Pyredoodles are grey, white, apricot, cream and black. Their coat is generally allergenic, with little shedding and easy to comb. A good daily brushing to prevent matting, especially on the denser coats, will probably be sufficient. Pyredoodles have medium energy levels. Make sure your dog gets at least one good walk of half an hour to an hour’s duration a day with some interactive play sessions. The Pyredoodle’s high intelligence makes training an easy task, but be careful: these dogs tend to be quite stubborn. Use plenty of positive reinforcement and reward-based training.

HISTORY

The mixed breed Pyredoodle may have existed naturally over the years, but designer breeders began intentionally mixing Great Pyrenees and Poodles in the early 2000s, probably in North America. Although the Pyredoodle started out as a designer breed, some have ended up in shelters or in the care of rescue groups. If you decide this is the dog for you, consider adoption. Check local shelters, Pyredoodle rescue groups, or breed-specific Great Pyrenees or Standard Poodle rescue groups, as they sometimes take in mixed-breed dogs and find homes for them.
