Huskita

Huskita

INTRODUCTION

The Husky is a mongrel dog, a cross between the Akita and Siberian Husky dog breeds. Large, energetic and loyal, these puppies inherit some of the best qualities of both their parents. Despite their unfortunate designer breed status, you can find these mixed breed dogs in shelters and breed-specific rescues, so remember to adopt. These amazing dogs are protective and loyal. They are also working dogs. Because of their alert nature, they have a history of taking on guard duty and police work, and make excellent therapy dogs and companion animals for people, and could live in a flat as long as they get plenty of outdoor exercise. Huskies do best in homes with yards and need a job or a chore to perform. When poorly stimulated, these puppies can become destructive and unruly. Keep them working to keep them happy.

HIGHLIGHTS

Huskies are mixed breed dogs. The main colours of the Husky are white, black and cream or tan. The main colours of Huskies are white, black and cream or tan. Akitas are best as the only dog in a household, whereas Huskies are pack animals. Huskies are protective and loyal with children, but can be aggressive if mistreated. Always supervise playtime and teach children to interact with dogs appropriately. These dogs may prefer homes with older children or adults. Huskies are prone to weight gain, and have high energy levels. Going for a 90-minute hike each day is a good starting point. They do well outdoors, but need to live indoors.

HISTORY

The Husky mixed breed of dog may have existed naturally over the years, but designer breeders began to intentionally mix Akitas with the Siberian Husky in the late 1990s, probably in North America. Breeders wanted to mix the two breeds to create a strong, healthy, active companion dog, and continued to create Huskies as the demand for mixed breed puppies increased. If you decide this is the dog for you, consider adopting him. Check with local shelters, Husky rescue groups, or Siberian Akita and Husky rescue groups, as they sometimes help rehome mixed-breed dogs.
