The Boston Terrier Pekingese Mix is a mongrel dog, a cross between the Boston Terrier and Pekingese dog breeds. Compact, intelligent and loyal, these puppies inherit some of the best qualities of their two parents. Boston Terrier and Pekingese mixes go by various names, such as Bostinese and Boston Peke. Despite their unfortunate designer breed status, you can find these mixed breed dogs in shelters and rescues, so remember to adopt. These adorable pups make great apartment dogs for active city dwellers, and can even make excellent family pets in larger households when trained consistently. If you’re looking for a spunky dog that will keep you on your toes, alert you to potential dangers – or visitors – and love you dearly, this could be the perfect mixed breed dog for you. AniMall24 recommends a good carrier for traveling with your little Bostinese. You should also buy a dog wormer for your puppy with lots of shedding.
The Pekingese Boston Terrier is a mixed breed dog. They are not pure breeds like their parents Boston Terrier or Pekingese. The main colors of the Bostineses are brown, black and white. Sometimes their coat is solid, and sometimes they have a mixture of colors and may be spotted or merle. Both breeds are prone to moderate to heavy shedding, which does not make this mix a good choice for allergy sufferers. Fortunately, their coat is fairly easy to groom. If children learn to approach small dogs and play with them safely, this mixed breed can be an excellent active companion for children. Many Boston Terrier mixes with Pekingese get along well with other dogs and cats. It is best if they are introduced and socialized at an early age. The Pekingese Mix Boston Terrier does not need large amounts of exercise or space to roam, but they do not do well when left alone for long periods of time. These dogs can be stubborn and somewhat protective, but for an energetic and consistent owner, their loyalty and desire to please will help make training easier. The Bostinese’s adorable “squashed” face can make breathing difficult, especially when overheated or in small, confined spaces, such as airplane carriers. Keep an eye on your Bostinese’s breathing and keep him away from extreme weather.
The “Bostinese” mixed dog breed may have existed naturally over the years, but designer breeders began intentionally mixing Boston Terriers and Pekingese dogs sometime in the 2000s, most likely in the United States. Breeders loved the rough and tumble attitude of the Boston Terrier and wanted to combine it with the affectionate lap dog qualities of the Pekingese breed. They continued to create Boston Terrier/Pekinese mixes as the demand for Boston Terrier puppies increased. Although the Bostinese mixed breed began as a designer breed, some have ended up in shelters or in the care of rescue groups. Consider adoption if you decide this is the mixed breed for you. Check local shelters, look for Boston Terrier Pekingese Mix rescues, or check with breed-specific Pekingese or Boston Terrier rescues, as they sometimes take in mixed-breed dogs and find homes for them.
